11am – 4pmPrint maker Alex Jolly will show you how to make decorative lino-cut prints inspired by Chinese objects – and Dante Gabrielle Rossetti’s Blue Bower which features beautiful Chinese tiles – to celebrate the Chinese New Year.

Drawing Portraits from Life for Beginners
Saturday 4, 11, 18 and 25 February
11.30am – 2.30pm
Artist David Walton RBSA will teach you the basics of how to start drawing portraits from life using a range of media. Students will also improve their skills in observation and analysis. This four-week course is suitable for beginners and also those wishing to refresh their skills.

11.30am – 2.30pmBy observing the live model, David Walton RBSA will show you how to start life-drawing using a variety of approaches and working at different scales to build your confidence. This is an ideal follow-on course from Portraits in February, but is also suitable for those new to drawing.

Art and Writing: Every Picture Tells a Story
Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 April
11.30am – 4.30pm
Playwright, poet and wordsmith Philip Monks will deliver this short story weekend workshop. Using art works in the Barber’s collections as inspiration, you will be able to craft an imaginative, one-page short story by the end of the course.
