Black History Month

The Barber will be celebrating Black History Month during October with events and activities for everyone to come along to. In addition, throughout the month, visitors to our permanent collection will be able to enjoy a FREE gallery trail entitled Reframing the Past: Hidden Histories at the Barber Institute, which places the focus on BME figures in our collection.

African Mini-Me
Use wire, fabric, beads and rope to create a mini-me inspired by traditional African figures, such as the Barber’s unusual West African altarpiece and the ancient doll on display in Sacred and Profane: Treasures of Ancient Egypt.
