BrixhamBrixham was a flourishing market town, sea-port, and fishing area. It was said to have the largest fishery in England. Nearly 300 ships belonged to the port, and because it was well protected from storms, the harbour was often used by ships as a refuge from the wind.
Mining also took place here, including the mining of iron ore. |
