The stories of twelve extraordinary women of immense power and influence — goddesses, regents, and empresses — lie behind this display, drawn from the Barber’s collection of some 16,000 coins. This is the first in a series highlighting specific themes and spanning several historical eras, which aims to bring more of these treasures to a wider audience.
