DevonDevon was an agricultural county, producing a range of crops, vegetables, cider, dairy products, wool, and timber. There were notable breeds of pigs, cattle, sheep and horses. In particular the Devonshire cattle were admired for their beautiful red colour, and the fine taste of their meat. Copper, sandstone, sand, gravel, slate and clay were all mined in Devon.
The main industries that took place in Devon were lace making, the manufacture of gloves and woollen products, and tanning. |
