HuddersfieldHuddersfield was a market town, which was considered at the time to be the most important in the ‘fancy’ woollen trade. During the Industrial Revolution there was a great deal of civil unrest in Huddersfield, resulting from crop failure among other things. Much of Huddersfield’s success came from its textile and woollen industries, as mentioned above, and because of this success the town flourished and produced a large number of beautiful Victorian buildings. There are 1,660 listed buildings in Huddersfield, and that is the third highest number of listed buildings in the country. |
