LincolnIn the early 18th century Lincoln was a fairly small market town, however when communications with other towns improved, so Lincoln prospered. Grain and wool were produced in Lincoln and taken elsewhere in return for coal and cloth.
In the mid 19th century, Lincoln turned from a market town into a big industrial centre. Iron foundries existed, as did firms making steam engines and farm tools. Brewing and brick making were also carried out. |
