The Sacred & the Profane:
Life and Death in Ancient Egypt
18 June 2010–18 January 2012
Coin Gallery
The Myers Collection of Egyptian Art at Eton College is one of the most stunning, yet little-known, assemblages of small Egyptian artefacts in the world. The statuettes of mortals and gods, mummy masks, jewellery and cosmetics, pottery, papyri and children’s toys presented here will trace two and a half millennia of life and death in ancient Egypt. The exhibition is a collaboration with the University of Birmingham’s College of Arts and Law, and a 3d gallery with highlights of the collection is being created by its Visual and Spatial Technology Centre (VISTA). The exhibition will be complemented by a related publication and a programme of associated activities, including public lectures, family days and workshops.
