ThetfordThe steam road locomotives built in Thetford (Burrell) were some of the most famous in the world, and as well as these, other agricultural machinery was produced here. Thetford, therefore, became the base of one of the most famous firms of steam engines, traction engines and locomotives. There was also a small iron and brass foundry, and malt was made here for the brewing industry. Thetford was a spa town briefly in the early 19th century. |
