Dürer to Kollwitz:
German Works on Paper
In recent years the Barber has been actively acquiring works on paper by German artists — notably lacking from most of the nation’s collections. This display highlights some of these works, including masterpieces by Dürer, Holbein, Käthe Kollwitz and Max Beckmann (pictured), and focuses upon what is quintessentially German in the visual arts, regardless of style or period—namely, expressionism. It is accompanied by an explanatory bay leaflet.
