Joan Rodgers, CBE, has given recitals throughout Europe and the USA and is a frequent guest at the BBC Proms. She also sings regularly at the Royal Opera House, English National Opera and Glyndebourne. The young British baritone Benedict Nelson is already being compared to Gerald Finley, Simon Keenlyside and others. Recently hailed ‘Best Newcomer’ in Rupert Christiansen’s ‘Opera Highlights of 2009’ (The Daily Telegraph), he clearly is one of the most exciting singers of his generation. The singers are joined by the distinguished accompanist Roger Vignoles in a programme of Lieder and duets to mark the 150th anniversary of the birth of two Austrian giants of late Romantic music.
