Natalie Clein was only sixteen when she became BBC Young Musician of the Year and won the Eurovision Competition for Young Musicians. Described by The Times as a ‘mesmerising’ cellist who ‘plays everything with passion’, she studied at the Royal College of Music and with Heinrich Schiff in Vienna. She has played concertos at the Proms and with the Hallé, Academy of St Martin-in-the-Fields, Royal Philharmonic, Vienna Chamber and City of Birmingham Symphony orchestras, and as a recitalist at the Wigmore Hall, Concertgebouw, Lincoln Centre (New York), Manchester International Festival, Salzburg and Vienna. Having made three CDs for EMI, she now records exclusively for Hyperion.
Alasdair Beatson has performed as a soloist at the Wigmore Hall and with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, as well as on tour with Alison Balsom (trumpet) and the Scottish Ensemble. As a chamber musician he has appeared at the Carnegie Hall, Concertgebouw, Zurich Tonhalle and Aldeburgh Festival with such artists as Adrian Brendel, Heinz Holliger, Pekka Kuusisto, Anthony Marwood and Pieter Wispelwey. He studied as a Foundation Scholar at the Royal College of Music with John Blakely and as an Associate Instructor at Indiana University with Menahem Pressler.
