Tuesday 26 February at 6.30pm · Barber Lecture TheatreCollected Works The colourful world of collecting works of art, and the excitement, intrigue and obsession that it can involve, have provided biographers, poets and novelists with a rich source of subject matter. This evening of readings, including fiction, non-fiction and drama by the likes of Robert Browning, Henry James, Michael Frayn and Simon Gray, has been organized in collaboration with the University of Birmingham’s English Department. Wednesday 5 March at 6pm · Barber Lecture TheatreOnly Collect… The exhibition curators, Paul Spencer-Longhurst, Tessa Sidey and Michael Cullen, are joined by Jonathan Watkins, Director of Birmingham’s IKON Gallery, and Jane Blood, Director and North West Representative of Christie’s, for a lively debate on collecting for private and public collections, chaired by the Barber’s Director, Ann Sumner.
