Sculpture by Katherine M Waters
Katherine M Waters has been inspired by her time living and working in Italy, and by the gallery’s masterpiece, The Three Fates, by Sebastiano Mazzoni, for this spectacular small exhibition of sculpture. Waters highlights the sometimes playful, sometimes ominous personalities of Mazzoni’s trio of deities, and explores themes she feels have implications for our own seemingly uncontrollable destinies. Acknowledging traditional and contemporary representations of the subject, and the Baroque period in which Mazzoni painted, Waters uses papier maché to provide a visual, tactile, questioning and witty take on the theme.
