What the Friends do
Since the 'Friends of the Barber Institute of Fine Arts' was
created, it has supported:

acquisition of Rubens' striking Portrait of a Carmelite Prior (pictured
right)
- a full-colour Souvenir Guide of the
Barber Institute's magnificent collection
- a new sound system for the Concert Hall
- brand new frames for Rosselli's The Adoration of the Child
Jesus and Stom's Isaac blessing Jacob
- Art Alive! Saturday afternoon performances
in which actors bring back to life such luminaries as van Dyck,
Degas, Monet, Vigée-Lebrun, and Rembrandt to discuss their lives
and work with children and adults
- the restoration of Le Sueur's Solomon and the Queen of
Sheba
- the acquisition of Bonvin's serene still-life, The Attributes
of Painting
- a fun-filled, educational Family Guide
- a documentary film of the annual Open
