A staged reading of one of August Strindberg’s best-known chamber plays is brought to you by the University of Birmingham Drama Department’s Dramaturgy/Assistant Directing class, directed by Kara Reilly. The morning after a devastating fire, a student becomes embroiled in an old man’s masterplot to wreak revenge against a rival who married his former fiancée. Expressionistic in content and form, this surreal drama examines the inner workings of human desires and motivations through symbolism and emotion.
