The Barber Institute of Fine Arts, University of Birmingham

The Barber Institute is just 3 miles from the centre of Birmingham and is easily accessible by Car, Bus and Train.

By Car:

Take the A38 (Bristol Road), turning onto Edgbaston Park Road. Parking is available in the University's South Car Park, with the Barber Institute situated at the top of the hill opposite King Edward's School, two minutes walk from the car park.

By Bus:

Nos 61, 62 and 63 leave the city centre (Corporation Street or Navigation St). The bus stops at the bottom of Navigation Street (ask for the University).

By Train:

University Station is a five minute walk from the Barber Institute on the campus. Trains leave New Street station regularly and take approximately 10 minutes.

Parking

Parking is available at all times at the University’s South Car Park on Edgbaston Park Road. The current parking fee is £1 per day, and charges apply from Monday to Friday, 8.30am - 4.30pm. Outside of these times, parking is free.

In the evening and at weekends, free parking is also available in the car parks and bays around the Barber Institute, accessible via the University's East Gate (off Edgbaston Park Road).

Disabled visitors

Level access for wheelchair-users is at the rear of the building, and a lift is available to carry visitors who are unable to use stairs.  If there is a member of your group who has any kind of special need, please inform us when booking to ensure we can offer the best assistance (Tel: 0121 414 7333).

An adapted WC for disabled visitors, together with baby-changing facilities, is available on the first floor — please ask at reception for more information or directions.

Monday - Saturday: 10.00 am - 5.00 pm
Sunday: 12 noon - 5.00 pm

Closed: Good Friday, 24-26 December and New Year's Day
