We have ambitious plans to develop further the Barber’s public profile as a centre of academic excellence and also a major visitor attraction, boosting attendances and delivering an enhanced programme of loan exhibitions and public events. To help us achieve these aims, we are looking for dynamic people to fill key new roles in our team:
LEARNING AND ACCESS ASSISTANT (Full Time) We are looking for an energetic and creative Learning and Access Assistant to join our lively Collections and Learning team. You will be required to help provide operational and administrative support to the Learning and Access Officer and to help plan, prepare and deliver the Barber Institute’s award-winning programme of educational events and activities. A good knowledge of art history and experience of working in a museum or art gallery is essential, as are excellent communication, presentation and organisational skills. Starting salary £17,249 a year, potential progression to £21,334 based on performance in post, plus additional 10% of salary for new staff or pension for existing Scheme members. VISITOR ASSISTANT (26 HOURS PER WEEK) TWO POSTS We are looking for two warm and welcoming Visitor Assistants to join our busy front-of-house team. You will be required to handle visitor enquiries and sales in the gallery shop, and to help maintain front-of-house facilities and displays. Experience of working in a retail or customer-facing service environment and handling cash sales is essential, as are good communication and interpersonal skills. Experience of working in a museum or visitor attraction would be an advantage. Starting salary £14,869 a year pro rata, potential progression to £17,741 pro rata based on performance in post, plus additional 10% of salary for new staff or pension for existing Scheme members.
